An eclectic selection of shoegazing, slow core, trip hop, indie, synthpop, and gothic music from now and the past. Catch the show streaming online Fridays at 8pm MST at www.kisu.org
HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Today is the first day of Hannukkah and Christmas is not far behind. In celebration of this wonderful Yule, I have put together a holiday special featuring songs that have become near and dear to me over the years. Most of these tracks come from the three volumes of gothic Christmas music that Projekt put out ages ago. Proof that you don't have to be of a certain culture or denomination to enjoy the season and its trappings. Stream or Download

It snowed. I was cranky. This was the show that ensued. Stream or Download

This song isn't really about winter; it's about masturbation instead of reading the Bible. But it also drips with regret and twinges of guilt, so it's very wintry in that respect.
Also, the Nick Cave video for 15 Feet of Pure White Snow:
Sorry for the delay on posting this episode. Destined to become one of my favorites, this show focuses mainly on the people who defied the status quo and thereby defined glam rock. Truly, truly out of this world.
The Velvet Underground - I'll Be Your Mirror David Bowie - Be My Wife Brian Eno - Everything Merges With the Night Roxy Music - Song for Europe T. Rex - Life's A Gas Station Break - David Bowie - A New Career in a New Town Paul Williams - Phantom's Theme (Beauty and the Beast) Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel - Sebastian Klaus Nomi - Cold Song (Henry Purcell cover) Station Break - David Bowie - The Weeping Wall Shudder to Think - Hot One London Suede - Where the Pigs Don't Fly Morrissey - You Know I Couldn't Last Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Midnight Radio
Klaus Nomi performs "Cold Song" live shortly before his death in 1983:
David Bowie in one of the bleakest music videos ever made: "Be My Wife". From the Low album, recorded in Berlin during Bowie's rehabilitation from drugs.

Video Times: As promised, here's the video for the Dears track "22: Death of All Romance". The animation in this is wonderful, the story is appropriately heartbreaking and one of the singers (I believe Natalia Yanchak but don't quote me on that) is the most beautiful woman I have seen in my entire life. Watch it!
This show didn't come together like I had planned. I was left with seven minutes of space to fill and couldn't manage to re-arrange anything well enough to cap things off with "Nature Boy" as I'd intended. But, it is what it is. So for the anniversary of "mission accomplished" I present a collection of songs about dreams, lies, destruction, desperation, death, the end and love. Stream or Download
Tom Waits - Alice Dresden Dolls - Mrs. O Jason Webley - Dance While the Sky Crashes Down Vermillion Lies - I Should Fly Station Break - Mercury Rev - I Collect Coins Casiotone For The Painfully Alone - Toby Take A Bow Rilo Kiley - The Execution of All Things The Postal Service - We Will Become Silhouettes Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #1 (Tunnels) Station Break - Mercury Rev - The Happy End (The Drunk Room) Morrissey - Everyday Is Like Sunday Depeche Mode - Stripped Placebo - Running Up That Hill (Kate Bush cover) Shearwater - Rooks Big Star - Nature Boy Lights Out Asia - Drift_Fade
Bonus Video Time!
Interesting note: when I was first approached with the idea of doing a show, I had initially considered calling it "Running Up That Hill Radio" because I love this song so much. Thankfully it hasn't been the uphill battle that everything else is. And so-
Kate Bush being... Kate Bush in the video for "Running Up That Hill":
So, this is actually a fan-made video, but it's professional quality and pretty amazing as far as videos go. While I don't like the male singer's voice on this track, STG made a decent effort and it outshines that godawful other cover that was released on the Depeche Mode tribute album x years back. Anyway, without further ado: Shiny Toy Guns performing "Stripped".

I was lucky enough to attend the Faint show in Salt Lake City this past Monday. The band had their new CD, not out in stores until Tuesday, for sale at their merch booth. Also on the playlist are two songs by the two bands that opened for the Faint, Cavedoll and Shy Child. Download or Stream

All right, MySpace was just too much of a hassle and layout nightmare, so I've decided to move everything here in hopes that the information will be easier to access and enjoy. The first entry deserves an appropriate show, so here's the very first episode of Beyond the Wall of Sleep, originally broadcast on May 17, 2008:
